Perched at an altitude of 3,144 m, the Diskit Gompa is the largest surviving monastery in the Nubra Valley in Leh. Belonging to the Gelugpa sect of Tibetan Buddhism, this monastery is settled along the slope of a mountain. It overlooks the pristine snow-capped Himalayan peaks and the stunning flood plains of the Shyok River that present a remarkable sight to behold.

Famous as Tharpa Ling, the Lamayuru monastery is not only the oldest but one of the largest monasteries in Leh. The monastery is located at an altitude of 3,510 m and is amongst the most serene and tranquil Leh tourist places. Home to over 50 monks, it is a famous ancient Buddhist shrine and belongs to the Red-Hat Sect of Buddhism.

The famous and sparkling blue Pangong lake is situated near Leh-Ladakh in the Himalayas, approximately at the height of 4350 meters. This endorheic lake is 12 kilometres long and extends from India to Tibet, with two-thirds of it lying in the latter. Owing to its altitude, the Pangong Lake temperature ranges from -5°C to 10°C as a result of which it freezes completely during winters in spite of its salinity. A unique feature of the lake is that it does not remain blue throughout the year or even the day, rather it changes colours from azure to light blue to green and grey too!

The popular Magnetic Hill of Ladakh is said to be a gravity hill where vehicles defy the force of gravity and move upwards on the hill when parked at the marked location. The hill lies at a distance of 30 km from the town of Leh, at an elevation of around 14,000 feet above sea level. To the eastern side of the hill flows the Sindhu River, originating in Tibet and is an almost essential stopover for all those who travel to Ladakh. An optical illusion or actuality, the Magnetic Hill in Ladakh has mysterious magnetic properties that draw tourists from across the globe.

The Chadar Trek or the Zanskar Gorge is a winter trail in the Zanskar region of Ladakh, in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. Traditionally the only means of travel in the area during the harsh winter months, the trail has become popular with international adventure tourists. This is known as Chadar(blanket/sheet) Trek due to the formation of the thick blanket of the snow in the Zanskar region.

Shanti Stupa Ladakh is placed on the hilltop at Changspa in Ladak and it was founded in year of 1985. Shanti Stupa Ladakh was constructed by Japanese Buddhist organization known as The Japanese for World Peace. In1985, Dalai Lama inaugurated the Shanti Stupa ladak. The idea around the construction of Shanti Stupa ladak is to celebrate 2500 years of Buddhism to encourage World Peace. Every year,visitors comes to Ladak in order to visit these stupa.Sunset and Sunrise is just imagine, your eyes will always in search of these scenery. The Shanti Stupa is white-colored domed-shaped structure, located in Chandspa which looks extremely beautiful during night when it is illuminated.

Kargil War Memorial, is a war memorial built by the Indian Army, located in Dras, in the foothills of the Tololing Hill. The memorial is located about 5 km from the city centre across the Tiger Hill. It is located on the Srinagar-Leh National Highway 1D. The memorial is in the memory of the soldiers and officers of the Indian Army who were martyred during the 1999 conflict between India and Pakistan. The conflict later became known as the Kargil War. The memorial has a huge epitaph with names of all the officers and soldiers who died in war. Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated on 26 July every year at the memorial simultaneously the Prime Minister of India pays tribute to the soldiers at Amar Jawan Jyothi at the India Gate, New Delhi. The main attraction of the whole memorial is the Sandstone wall, in the open, which has the names of all the Indian army personnel, who laid their lives during the Kargil war besides there is also a souvenir shop.

Hall of Fame is a proud displayer of Indian Army simultaneously acts as the symbol of those dark days of India’s war against Pakistan. The museum that showcases seized arms and weapons of Pakistan army is located in Ladakh, the paradise of adventure lovers lying in the beautiful Himalayas. Moreover, the museum is considered to be a tribute to the brave soldiers who lost their lives during the war. To make it more appealing, the Indian Army has kept the photos and the things of those soldiers inside the museum. Also, the arranged items related to the history and culture of Ladakh, wildlife and vegetation have importance and amuses the visitors definitely. There are things which enhance every Indian’s patriotic feelings as well as they let us appreciate the bravery shown by every Indian soldier during the wars, from the heart.

Leh Palace is a former royal palace overlooking the Ladakhi Himalayan town of Leh. Modelled on the Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet, the palace was built by King Sengge Namgyal in the 16th century. It is nine storeys high; the upper floors accommodated the royal family, while the lower floors held stables and store rooms. Hemis Monastery is a Himalayan Buddhist monastery of the Drukpa Lineage, in Hemis on the bank of the Indus River, Ladakh, India. Situated 45 km from Leh, it was re-established in 1672 by the Ladakhi king Sengge Namgyal. 

Shey Palace and Monastery are located near Leh, Ladakh, India, about 15 kilometers southeast of the cityThe palace, also known as Shey Gompa, was built in the 17th century by King Deldan Namgyal as a summer retreat. It served as the former summer capital of Ladakh and the residence of the Ladakhi royal family. The monastery within the complex houses a 12-meter-high copper statue of the seated Shakyamuni Buddha, the largest metal statue in the region. 

Accommodation

Rooms at Zambala Inn retain the simplicity of living but are equipped with modern amenities like geysers and air conditioning. Clean linen including towels is provided. There is daily housekeeping.

Flights and travel to and from the hotel /resort are not included in the package pricing.

Yes! We have double and single occupancy rooms available and in some retreats even triple occupancy. When possible we will find partners for you to share your room with who are like-minded.

We offer simple sattvic vegetarian food. We generally have 2 meals and an afternoon tea. Our food is as local and organic as possible and we advocate a yogic diet.

If you have a specific dietary constraint, there will be a facility to order food for yourself. We are unable to cater to specific diets like Jain, vegan, gluten-free etc, though we will usually have atleast one option for all.

If we need to cancel the retreat for any reason, we will issue a 100% refund – no questions asked.

In case of natural events like floods, earthquakes, or other unforeseen calamities that lead to cancellation, we will also provide a full refund.
